Tatyana holds various degrees from Russia and the United States, including B.A. in Music & Theater Education and M.A. in Executive Development for Public Services.

Tatyana joined the Russian School team in 1998 as a music and theater teacher. She develops unique programs for 3-12 year old children, intended to stimulate brain development and creative abilities. Every year her students participate in musical plays and concerts. As a Director of Special Events, Tatyana directs New Year plays with teachers, and organizes the Annual end of the year concerts.

“I call students “my children” since I was teaching them from the age of 3, and I am happy that in 7 years they are still with me! It has been a big pleasure to watch them grow, discovering their talents and developing their creative abilities.”

Katya Klauz
Music (Level 2)

While living in Russia, I graduated from St.Petersburg School of Music as a school/kindergarten Music Teacher and worked as Kindergarten Music Instructor and later as a children's choir conductor in one of St.Petersburg's District Music School.

Actually, my music education started long before the college years - in first grade of music school for children. Seven years later (and an eternity from my parents's perspective) I finished it. Ever since, I can't seem to let go, even though my present profession (Software Developer) is as far from music as one could imagine..

While living in Indy, I joined the ISC (Indianapolis Symphonic Choir) for two years and took part in many memorable performances. I really hope to return in a few years, once my younger daughter is older.

Marina Figlina
Art

Subsequent to graduating from an art school back in Odessa, Marina received a Bachelors degree in Theatrical Costume Design from the Odessa College of Theater and Art. In 1983, she obtained a Masters Degree in Art Education from Odessa’s Ushynskij Pedagogical University. Since then, and before her move to the United States, Marina has worked at Odessa’s Dovzhenko Movie Studio as a Costumer Designer and dedicated 20 years to teaching art at the Children’s Art School #5, based in Kiev, Ukraine.

Four years ago, Marina joined the team at the Indianapolis Russian School; she wanted to regain the joy of working with young students and helping them develop through their artwork. Every Sunday, she comes into the JCC to teach various art classes with her assistant and daughter, Tatyana.

Even though she is far away from her Ukrainian colleagues, she maintains professional and personal contact with them. In the future, Marina would be interested in organizing an exhibition of different artwork that she has received from her friends in Ukraine. Slides art that her colleagues and their students have produced and sent to her would be educational, helpful, and interesting to both parents and students.
